It’s a good thing for the Rouen Huskies that they’ve built a five-game winning streak, because they’ve had to keep winning to hold the lead in the French League standings while the Sevigny Lions have built their own four-game streak to stay within percentage points of the defending champions.
Rouen put together a pair of wins over the La Guerche Hawks last weekend, 5-2 and 13-10, to bring their record to 9-1 for the season. With a winning percentage of .900, the Huskies are barely ahead of 10-2 Sevigny, who are in a virtual tie for the French lead with Rouen but trail in winning percentage at .833. Any way you look at it, this is a close race.
Sevigny helped themselves with a pair of wins against Stade Toulousain last weekend, 9-5 and 9-2. The third place Montpelier Barracudas have quietly built a 6-3 record after sweeping both ends of their road doubleheader against the Montigny Cougars, 8-5 and 7-5. The Barracudas are a game-and-a-half ahead of 6-6 La Guerche.
