BATANGAS SWEEPS TAGUIG, NOW 6-0 IN PHILIPPINES LEAGUE

The Batangas Bulls took two games last weekend from the Taguig Patriots to bring their Baseball Philippines Series 5 record to 6-0 this spring. The Bulls beat Taguig, 5-4, in 12 innings in the opener on JoJo Apura’s game-winning RBI single, then crushed the Patriots, 7-1, one day later as Virgilio Roxas cracked his 11th career homer, most in BP’s two-year history.

The Manila Sharks are in second place with a 4-1 record, while the Cebu Dolphins are third at 3-1. The Dumaguete Uni-bikers lead the second division with a 2-3 mark, the Alabang Tigers are 1-5 and Taguig fell to 0-6 after the Batangas series. The Patriots are allowing over eight runs per game.
