KOREAN ALL-STAR GAME BALLOTS OUT

The Korea Baseball Organization’s All-Star Game fan balloting began last week and will run through June 17. Fans in Korea can vote at all seven KBO ballparks, online or by cell phone.

Voters will select ten players from a group nominated by the four “Eastern” teams, including the SK Wyverns, Doosan Bears, Lotte Giants and Samsung Lions. Similarly, ten players will be picked from a group nominated by the KBO’s four “Western” teams: Hanwha Eagles, Kia Tigers, LG Twins and the sponsorless Seoul Heroes. The managers for the two All-Star squads, SK’s Sung-geun Kim and Hanwha’s In-sik Kim, will each choose ten additional players after fan balloting is concluded. The All-Star game will take place July 25 at Gwangju’s Mudeung Stadium, home of the Kia Tigers.

In the KBO standings, the defending champion Wyverns are out in front with a 29-14-4 record. Doosan is second at 25-16-2, Kia is third with a 23-21-3 mark, and LG is fourth at 22-22-3.
