The Reynosa Broncos have won five straight games to overtake the Mexico City Diablos Rojos for the top position in the Mexican League’s North Division with a 27-13 record. The 27-14 Diablos had won eight straight contests themselves before dropping two in a row. The Saltillo Saraperos have taken five wins in a row themselves, but trail the Broncos by five games at 22-18. In the LMB South, the 29-11 Quintana Roo Tigres have Mexico’s best record and lead the division by four games.
Monterrey outfielder Edgar Quintero is off to a torrid start with a .447 batting average, while Chihuahua’s Jacob Cruz leads the Liga with 13 homers and 46 RBIs despite “only” hitting .380.
