PHILLIES GIVEN WORLD SERIES RINGS, WILL VISIT WHITE HOUSE

The Philadelphia Phillies were presented their 2008 World Series championship rings on April 8 prior to their home game against Atlanta. Each ring has 103 diamonds (representing each win in 2008), totaling 3.84 carats. The rings are made of 14-carat white gold and crowned with a ruby inlay topped with the franchise’s signature letter “P.”

The Phillies were set to visit the White House in Washington on April 14 to meet the president and vice president of the United States. Philadelphia shortstop Jimmy Rollins is making a return trip to the Oval Office. He met the president in 1991 after his Babe Ruth League team won its World Series.
